Minty Homemade Playdough

It’s sunday, perfect day to do a big mess in the kitchen!ingredients

Ingredients :

  • 1 cup of flour
  • 2 tablespoons of sodium bicarbonate or even better 1 Tablespoon of cream of tartar
  • 1 cup of table salt (I’ve tried with coarse salt and the result is in my bin)
  • 1 cup of hot water
  • 1 table-spoon of vegetable oil
  • 4 drops of essential oil
  • Food coloring

It’s quite easy!

Put all the dry ingredients on a saucepan.

Bicarbonate de soude

Add the water and the oil!

Stirstir

Add the coloring (few drops till you find the perfect color)

Warning : if you want to create different colours for this lot of dough, then wait till the end of the recipe when the dough is cold enough to be handled and separate the dough in small balls that you will open, and add in the middle few drops of the coloring you want on each ball).

Mint

Then stir, stir, stir over medium heat.

When the dough pulls away from the sides as shown above, remove the saucepan from the heat.

Let it cool down before kneading the dough.

Add the essential oil if you want a nice smell (but then it’s less safe for kids, depending on the oil)  and you can start the fun!

And by fun, I mean make a fool of yourself by creating a rasta-unicorn, hoping for your sculpture teacher to never see this…
